The Taboo board game is a popular party card game that gets players guessing a word on a card. This sounds simple, but the player giving clues to his teammates cannot say the word itself, or any one of five taboo words listed on the card.
The Taboo game uses gestures, pictures, and other forms of non-verbal communication are also not allowed. The game involves two teams of at least two players. One player draws a card, and shows it to the giver on the opposing team. The player who draws the card is known as the censor, and is responsible for hitting the buzzer if the giver uses any taboo words.
Taboo words also include parts of the target word, such as "lady" for the word "ladybug". If any member of the team guesses the word correctly, another card is drawn and the process is repeated. This goes on until the timer runs out, and then play switches to the next team.
The game comes with a deck of 1000 word cards, a buzzer, a timer, and a device that holds the card so only the censor and giver can see it. The recommended age for this game is 12 and up.
