The Settlers Of Catan Game

The Settlers of Catan game is a newer board game that first appeared in 1995. It is a multi player game that is based upon building cities on the island of Catan. The goal of the game is to obtain 10 victory points. Each victory point is obtained by completing different tasks throughout the game. Many find it a challenging and fun game.

The game itself is the island and different land types are represented by hexagon tiles that are randomly placed before the game is started. Each of these land types have different resources that are associated with them. As each player builds his/her village they use the resources to purchase supplies. Players earn resource cards during each turn that they can trade with other players to build their village.

The goal of the Settlers of Catan is to get 10 victory points. This can be obtained by different means. A victory point, for instance, is scored when your village becomes large enough to be considered a city. Building additional settlements, having the longest roads or other accomplishments as these will earn the player victory points.

The game is based on the roll of 2 dice and each player in the game has equal opportunity to win. This is not an elimination game and at any point someone that is lacking in resource or points can come up from behind.
