Quiddler Card Game

The Quiddler Card Game is a combination of the games Scrabble and Rummy. The game consists of 118 cards, each with different letters of the alphabet, and some two-letter cards... including QU, IN, ER, CL and TH. These cards all have a point value, and it can vary.

The Quiddler game is played in eight different rounds. In the first round, each player is dealt three cards and the number of cards played is increased by one every turn until the eighth round when ten cards are given out. Play then starts. On a player's turn, that person must keep drawing cards until he can make enough words to use all the cards except one. The one card left over is to be discarded. Once a player has "gone out", the other players have one turn to make whatever words they can. A word must be 2 letters or longer, and you do not need to use all the cards to make a single word.

Scoring in Quiddler is based on the value of the cards, which levels the playing field nicely. Also, in each round a bonus of 10 points is given to the person who made the most words, and another 10 goes to the person who made the longest word. If there is a tie for first place, no one gets the bonus. The winner is the person with the highest score after eight rounds of play.

The strategy is pretty simple: Try to make as many words as you can, but use the higher value cards.
