Basic game board instructions:
The object is to have the most fortune in cash and paintings.
Each player puts their pieces on the board.
The value cards are put in a pile face down and the painting cards are put in a pile face up.
One person is the banker.
Everyone starts with $1,500,000, one painting card, and one value card.
The players take turns rolling the die and following the rules for the space they land on.
On the Bank Auction space, the players may bid on the top painting in the pile.
The value of the painting isn’t known until the auction is over.
If a player lands on the Private Auction space, the other players may bid on one of his paintings.
The player with the most at the end wins!

There is a story that's been circulating about a man who was playing this art auction game. He saw that a painting in his home looked just like a painting in the game. The game painting was painted by Martin Johnson Heade. Later he discovered his painting was an unknown work by the famous artist called, Magnolias on Gold Velvet Cloth, and it was sold in 1999 to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas for 1,250,000.00.
