Five Crowns Card Game
Find out how to play Five Crowns Card Game, one of the fun games on our list of board games. Five Crowns is a card game played by 2 to 7 players, and is dealt with two decks of 58 cards each, for a total of 116 cards. The cards are ranked from 3 to King in each suit and 6 jokers are in the deck.
At first, only 3 cards are dealt to each player, but every hand that passes, one additional card is dealt, until the 11th and final hand, when 13 cards are given to each person.
On a player's turn, a player must draw and discard a card, and play continues clockwise until one player has the right cards to make books or runs. A run is the poker equivalent of a straight, composing of three or more cards (e.g. 4, 5, 6... or 10, J, Q, etc.), and a book is three of a kind or better. Whatever card is wild may substitute to complete a run or a book. And each card is worth its face value. Jacks are worth 11, Queens 12, Kings 13 and Jokers 50. Whatever card is wild is worth 20. No one can lay down until one player is ready to go out.
When one person goes out, the other players have 1 turn to lay down their books or runs and discard 1 card. Whatever is left in their hand is scored against them. The game continues through the final hand when 13 cards are dealt and Kings are wild.
The objective of Five Crowns is to score as low as possible. The person with the lowest score is the winner. Have a good time with family and friends playing some fun games. It's a great way to make some wonderful memories!
