Qwirkle

Qwirkle is a tile game composed of 108 different shapes in six different colors and six different shapes, repeated three times. To play, all you have to do is make a line that matches either shape or color.

The play goes first to the person who has the most number that match shape or color plays first. That person then plays the tiles in a line. Each item played is worth a point. The line can be built on for a point each until the 6th tile is played but no tile may be duplicated and all must be the same color or shape. The sixth tile is worth a bonus of 6 points.

If you have a red starburst, red circle and red diamond, then they may not be played again on the same line. Since a line can be played horizontally or vertically, you may for instance play a blue diamond next to the red diamond, as long as it's not going the same direction as your line of red tiles. If the red tiles are horizontal, place the blue diamond above or below the red diamond. The person with the most points wins the game.

This game sounds deceptively simple but to score the most points and win the game, you must be able to strategize similar to Othello or Chess. The game itself is quick to learn but mastering it takes some serious effort.
